Successfully “Going green in Seventeen” – brokerage event on green projects

1 February, 2017 By Editor

The joint AER-ERRIN brokerage event “Going green in Seventeen” which was held in Brussels, Belgium on 19 January 2017, was a great success. With a focus on Horizon 2020 energy and climate change calls with a 2017 deadline, the project brokerage session drew a myriad of representatives hailing from regional delegations, universities, companies, and public authorities. In addition, the plenary session allowed attendees to gain insight on the new call and advice on how to design a successful project proposal.

This event aimed to foster the participation of our member regions in EU funded green projects, in line with our new service dedicated to assisting them with EU projects and programmes. By acting as a channel through which to facilitate the meeting and networking of different actors concerned by green projects, AER successfully gave its regions and other stakeholders the key to develop project ideas, join EU projects, and meet potential new partners to build consortia.

The event was beneficial to our participants, who were provided with insight on the Horizon 2020 Energy Efficiency Call 2017, practical support by means of tips and tricks for a successful Horizon 2020 proposal, and a greater understanding of the role of exploitation and dissemination in green Horizon 2020 projects.

  • Mr. Adrian Peres from EASME, European Commission presented the Energy Efficiency Call 2017. He shared the main type of actions in the Energy Efficiency Call 2017, along with basic principles on the evaluation process for proposals, tips and lessons learnt, and feedback from EASME experts.

Interested in prevention and early intervention of behavioural problems in schools?

16 January, 2017 By Editor

Education is arguably essential to the development and improvement of the lives of young people. Indeed, a myriad of factors can affect the pupil’s progress in school along with that of other pupils in the same environment, especially when related to behavioural problems.

Toppunt vzw is an association of pupil guidance centres in Ghent (Interstedelijk CLB Gent, VCLB regio Gent en CLB GO Gent) that works closely with schools, pupils and parents. This association works according to the principles of action-oriented cooperation (AOC or HGW), and has experience implementing this framework within experimental groups of schools and guidance centres. Their work focuses on working together effectively with everyone who is involved in supporting the pupil.

Toppunt vzw is looking for partners for an Erasmus+ Project they are drafting on prevention and early intervention of behavioural problems in schools. They wish to develop and implement a three-tiered model that starts with basic care for all pupils, and then evolves to more specialised care for the pupils who are not responding to the first level of intervention.

In particular, Toppunt vzw is looking to collaborate with expert partners from educational settings, school counselling services, diagnostic centres, universities, and therapeutic centres to work on the following:

  • Developing and implementing a tiered model for enhancing social-emotional behaviour within a school context
  • Helping children and youth to develop prosocial behaviour by use of the LIFT-program (Linking the Interests of the Family and Teachers) in elementary schools in Ghent
  • Organising good partnership with professionals and referral centres for pupils at tier 2 and 3

If you are interested in working on prevention and early intervention of behavioural problems in schools, get in touch quickly with the AER Secretariat before 20 January 2017.

Partner search: food surpluses and/or secondary flows

16 January, 2017 By Editor

KOMOSIE (Koepel van Milieuondernemers in de Sociale Economie) is the non-profit umbrella organisation of recognised reuse centres and energy savers in Flanders. Since 2013 Komosie has been building up a new ‘branch’: Foodsaving – being socially active with food surplus and secondary flows. Komosie brings together social economy enterprises that carry out activities with ecological added value and provides them with support for their professional operation. Komosie wants to help protect the environment, all the while creating and maintaining jobs for at-risk groups in the labour market.

KOMOSIE is searching for partners for a project on food surpluses and/or secondary flows, in the framework of the Interreg 2 Seas programme. They want to strengthen the network of social enterprises and organisations that work with food surpluses and/or secondary flows in one or several of the following ways: supply, storage, processing and/or distribution. The aim is to create sustainable jobs for people who have difficulties integrating in the regular job market, while making sure that the product of their activities is ecologically valuable (by reducing food waste and valorising secondary flows) and preferably also supportive to people living in poverty.

In particular, some of the areas in which KOMOSIE is searching for partners are:

  • Developing/strengthening of knowledge centres in each area of the 2 Seas on the topic of ‘working socially with food surplus and secondary flows’, adapted to the local context
  • Supporting the creation and functioning of intermediate distribution platforms, both physical platforms and online platforms
  • Developing or adapting a common registration methodology and system to measure the amount and type of food surplus that is saved by this network of social enterprises and organisations, in relation to the food waste hierarchy and promote the use of it in the region

If you are interested in partnering with KOMOSIE on their project proposal, please contact the AER Secretariat before 27 January 2017.

Call for European partners: empowering volunteer instructors/teachers

13 December, 2016 By Agnese Pantaloni

DINAMO is a Belgian independent non-profit organisation that organises education for adults. Remarkably, all of their courses, workshops and outings are given or led by volunteer experts and instructors. Ten professional team members direct 230 volunteers who deliver and lead some 400 activities per year. The average participant enrols in about 2.3 activities, which means DINAMO counts about 6,000 enrolments per year. This makes DINAMO the largest provider of personal growth and development, being a sustainable source of volunteer work and networking opportunities for all.

DINAMO wishes to collaborate with European partners to seek a methodology to strengthen, coach and evaluate volunteer instructors within its project “Empowering volunteer instructors/teachers”. In particular, DINAMO is interested to find answers/solutions to the following questions:

  • Which educational skills and abilities are essential for volunteer instructors and how can we guide and support them in this regard?
  • How can we coach and evaluate volunteers in a non-threatening, effective and motivating way, considering their volunteer status?
  • How can we develop our organization’s policies and vision regarding coaching, teaching and developing volunteers?
  • What tools and techniques can our professional team learn and use to accomplish our goals for volunteers?

If you are interested in this topic and you look to the same objective of developing a tool/methodology which can help volunteers to become more professional instructors and leaders and which can potentially prepare them to develop further for accessing workplaces, do not hesitate to contact the AER Secretariat. We are here to listen, share and follow up your expression of interest to take part in this project!

Deadline for you reaction is 4 January.

Are you interested to develop a project on education & skills for young innovators?

13 December, 2016 By Agnese Pantaloni

We are happy to share with you a project proposal from a key stakeholder of our member region Umbria (IT) who is looking for a partner to lead the project and to work with them!

This idea was presented to the AER Secretariat by Agenzia Umbria Ricerche – AUR as the Research Agency of Umbria Region for social, economical and territorial affairs. AUR has a solid background in the drafting and implementation of EU projects co-funded both by Structural Funds and EU programmes in the areas of youth entrepreneurship, mobility schemes industry, tourism and cultural heritage, research and innovation, etc.

The project is developed within Horizon 2020 – Europe in a changing world – Inclusive, innovative and reflective Societies, Topic “Education and skills: empowering Europe’s young innovators” (CO-CREATION-01-2017).

This call aims to improve learning and teaching in innovation-related skills for young boys and girls at the age of primary and secondary education through the design and piloting of new innovative ways of skills education, including technologies, processes and relations. Building upon existing initiatives in Europe, the consortia (which shall include entrepreneurial partners, and may include partners from civil society and the social economy) shall develop new approaches and innovative models for skills education targeted at young people.

Taking advantage of previous experiences such as Enterprise Business Game and Leonardo Toi-Start App project, AUR developed a possible model to support the dissemination of culture business, teaching and transmission of entrepreneurial skills, even from a gender perspective, which is based on the enhancement of expert experience and proven expertise over the years both in Italy and in the context of stable and active European networks. These experiences can actually be integrated into a support model to the development of entrepreneurial skills transferable at European level, being efficient (in terms of cost-benefit ratio) and effective (in terms of expected results report, results obtained and impact on a large scale), as well as versatile and with high adaptability to different contexts.

AUR has the background experience on the topic of this call as well as the project idea to fit into it, what now they are looking for is actually a lead partner that could drive – together with them – the development and drafting of the project proposal.

If you like the idea of being involved in this interesting activity, together with AUR and with the support of AER please get in touch with AER Secretariat! We would be very happy to share this with you, get your valuable inputs and start working together on it being the framework and content already at a good stage but open to you contributions!

Being the deadline of this call on 2nd February 2017, please inform us about your expression of interest before 23rd December!
