Interested in prevention and early intervention of behavioural problems in schools?

Education is arguably essential to the development and improvement of the lives of young people. Indeed, a myriad of factors can affect the pupil’s progress in school along with that of other pupils in the same environment, especially when related to behavioural problems.

Toppunt vzw is an association of pupil guidance centres in Ghent (Interstedelijk CLB Gent, VCLB regio Gent en CLB GO Gent) that works closely with schools, pupils and parents. This association works according to the principles of action-oriented cooperation (AOC or HGW), and has experience implementing this framework within experimental groups of schools and guidance centres. Their work focuses on working together effectively with everyone who is involved in supporting the pupil.

Toppunt vzw is looking for partners for an Erasmus+ Project they are drafting on prevention and early intervention of behavioural problems in schools. They wish to develop and implement a three-tiered model that starts with basic care for all pupils, and then evolves to more specialised care for the pupils who are not responding to the first level of intervention.

In particular, Toppunt vzw is looking to collaborate with expert partners from educational settings, school counselling services, diagnostic centres, universities, and therapeutic centres to work on the following:

  • Developing and implementing a tiered model for enhancing social-emotional behaviour within a school context
  • Helping children and youth to develop prosocial behaviour by use of the LIFT-program (Linking the Interests of the Family and Teachers) in elementary schools in Ghent
  • Organising good partnership with professionals and referral centres for pupils at tier 2 and 3

If you are interested in working on prevention and early intervention of behavioural problems in schools, get in touch quickly with the AER Secretariat before 20 January 2017.
