“No Generation Left Behind” is an urgent policy priority across all levels of governance. The challenges shaping today’s social cohesion raise a common question: how can current generations meet today’s needs without limiting the opportunities and well-being of those who come after them?

Catalonia, through its Agència Catalana de la Joventut,  its regional youth agency, will address this pressing question through the 2026 edition of the Summer Academy, taking place in Coma-ruga on 16-19 September 2026.

Deadline: 1 September 2026

If you are a member of the Summer Academy Organising Committee, please reach out to Barbara Polin for more information regarding your participation.

About the 2026 programme

Opened by a high-level political roundtable, the 2026 Summer Academy will explore the different aspects of intergenerational policy-making across Europe. The workshops  of the 9 organising regions will explore 3 inter-connected dimensions:

  • Voice: This dimension explores democratic participation, youth engagement, institutional openness and long-term governance. It asks how regions can move beyond consultation towards genuine co-decision and shared responsibility.
  • Chance: This includes questions of education, employment, housing, health and wellbeing. It addresses how public policies can reduce inequalities and create conditions in which all generations can develop their potential.
  • Place: This dimension focuses on regional cohesion, urban-rural divides, peripheral regions and community resilience. It explores how places can be designed and governed to support both present and future generations.
