Capacity Building in the Field of Climate Change in Turkey Grant Scheme (CCGS) is a multi-faceted programme to support a wide range of activities required to contribute to the global efforts to mitigate climate change and to increase the resilience of its citizens in line with the National Climate Change Strategy, National Climate Change Action Plan, the Europe 2020 Strategy and other national strategies related to climate change. The activities under this programme are also expected to have visibility function, via informing and awareness raising towards various stakeholders nationwide, by which they will also be aware about the importance and the objectives of the project.

- Overall objective: to reduce anthropogenic greenhouse emissions to contribute to the global efforts to mitigate the climate change in line with the specific evidence
- Specific objectives: raising awareness of local people regarding the necessity and importance of combatting climate change, achievement of a permanent exchange of experience between local administrative institutions regarding the climate change by joint actions, to establish a cooperation between local authorities in Turkey and EU Countries by sharing best practices regarding the climate change.
This project foresees the implementation of several activities among which the setting up of a Working Group on Climate Change, the launch of a survey study in order to determine the knowledge level of local people regarding the importance and urgency of combating climate change, the organisation of training programmes, study visits and workshops.
