While growth and jobs are on everyone’s lips, SMEs are more and more recognised for their potential to revive the economic engine in Europe. The Assembly of European Regions, the region of Brussels-Capital (BE) and finance.brussels organised on 20 November a seminar in the European Parliament to address the main challenges encountered by SMEs and how the regions can support them efficiently.

In continuation of the activities of AER Committee 1 and its Working Group on Investment, Business and SMEs under the chairmanship of Mr Vanraes (Brussels-Capital), the seminar “Investing in SMEs“ gathered around 100 participants from over 30 regions: regional authorities, business representatives, European officials and investment agencies joined the panel of experts to address the topic and shape tomorrow’s investment policies towards the regional entrepreneurial fabric.

By bringing together European and regional decision-makers with CEOs in open discussions, AER intends to narrow their views and provide appropriate tools to implement concrete and effective policies for growth and jobs in the regions.

On 21 November, a study visit was organised by finance.brussels to meet 3 innovative companies that benefited from the financial support of the region to invest and modernise their business.
