Paris, Ile-de-France (F), 13 February 2013

The Assembly of European Regions (AER) continues its advocacy for democracy in Tunisia. Indeed, Michèle Sabban, President of the AER, was present at the event honoring Madame Belaid, widow of the murdered syndicalist two weeks ago in Tunisia. This event was organised in Paris by the magazine ‘Opinion Internationale’, by the FIDH as well as by the Arab Institute for Human Rights, in partnership with France Inter. “It has been two years already since AER started working to help Tunisia open up to democracy, and we are now more determined than ever to help the country and its regions to find long lasting stability. I personally commit myself!”  underlined Mrs Sabban at a press conference.
The Assembly of European Regions (AER – aer.eu) is the largest independent network of regions in wider Europe. Bringing together more than 250 regions from 35 countries and 16 interregional organisations, AER is the political voice of its members and a forum for interregional co-operation.
