AER helping regions to promote the fundamental rights on their territory

Regions are main stakeholders when it comes to promoting fundamental rights in their territory. The European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) has published a very useful online toolkit to help public officials improve the protection and promotion of fundamental rights.

The Training Academy organised in Brussels on 19 September allowed participants not only to get an insight into this toolkit, but also to test it and thereby get a first-hand experience of its use and added-value for their everyday work. One aspect coming out of the toolkit is the importance of efficient leadership in the promotion of fundamental rights. The second part of the session was therefore dedicated to an introduction to the leadership concept and enabled participants to assess their leadership capacities, on the basis of concrete group exercises taken from the Leadership toolkit developed by the Council of Europe, and adapted by AER for regions.
