Per AER Statute and Procedures, elections at the General Assembly and the Committees are governed by the Election Committee.
The Election Committee’s nomination of candidates
The Election Committee 2017 has discussed the formal requirements associated with the various positions and identified the needed competences.
VI.a By-election of President of Committee 3 for Culture, Education and Youth
1) The Election Committee proposes Radimir Čačić, Varazdin (HR) as Executive Board representative of Committee 3.
2) The election should be considered as a by-election for one year, in order to preserve the Executive Board’s whole term of office.
VI.b By-election of Monitoring and Evaluation Group member
Medzait Ljatifi, Nordjylland (DK), has stepped down from his position in the Monitoring and Evaluation Group.
The AER Monitoring and Evaluation Group is responsible for
a) Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the mission and objectives of AER, in compliance with the provisions of the Statute and the Procedures;
b) The efficient and sound use of financial and human resources.
The group will assess the outcomes of the actions and activities and make strategic recommendations.
Each member must be nominated by an AER member and hold a regional political mandate. Deadline for nominations: 18 May 2018.
1) The Election committee proposes this position to be a by-election for one year, in order to preserve the Monitoring and Evaluation Group’s whole term of office.
2) The Election Committee proposal will be presented at the General Assembly.
VI.c Election of Election committee 2019
Members of this committee are elected separately for a mandate of one year. The committee is comprised of 3 to 5 members.
The current members are Gloria Vitaly (Oppland), Johan Edstav (Uppsala) and Brian Greenslade (Devon).
The role of the election committee is to inventory and prepare for the elections at the General Assembly and the Committees by:
a) Identifying the competences and, if any, the formal requirements associated with the positions;
b) Identifying the status of the members holding the current positions;
c) Survey suitable candidates among the AER members;
d) Call for nominations in accordance with AER Procedures.
An additional task will be put forward for adoption by the General Assembly 2018: The Election Committee will, for the entirety of its mandate, actively inform and encourage members to apply for positions within AER.
