Wrapping Up The Skillnet Project And Defining The Future Of The TVET Alliance

Creating new learning, training and job opportunities for everyone across Europe will be crucial to recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis and building more sustainable, fair and resilient communities as we transition to a digital and green economy and society.

The TVET Alliance summit, organized in the context of the Skillnet Project (IVETA, AER, ENNI, and EAPRIL), and in collaboration with the European Training Foundation took place on 5 and 6 April 2022 in Florence, Italy.

The main purpose of the event was to bring together Skillnet project partners and high-level stakeholders operating in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to share a strong commitment to co-design of an inclusive, resilient and sustainable society, and reshaping the TVET of the future.

The starting point for this analysis was the results achieved through the Skillman International Forum SIF2021 and the work carried out throughout several months of the Skillnet project, in which AER organised and facilitated 18 webinars on topics related to Skills and TVET, identified as main priorities by AER members.

Key concepts that emerged from the Skillnet webinars and SIF2021 were presented and analyzed by participants extracting the main thoughts and key advocacy messages of the experts that can be used to influence policymaking, in particular at the European level, and inspire regions to learn from each other and create effective an innovative ecosystem able to boost skills for new jobs as a key enabler to exploit the opportunities provided by the green&digital transition making it an opportunity for people and societies, while mitigating the effects of the transition for most vulnerable groups.

This work will culminate in a declaration to give substance to the results that emerged and to agree on the next steps that partners and stakeholders will take to contribute in reshaping the TVET world and enhance the sustainability strategy for the future of the Alliance.

As we wait for the declaration, we can all be inspired by the visionary and encouraging messages coming from our regions and other partners, by watching (and sharing) this exciting video created by our AER team member, Anna Comacchio.

European Vocational Skills Week 2022

European Vocational Skills Week is an annual event where local, regional or national organisations showcase the very best of vocational education and training (VET). VET is a path to a more fulfilling personal and professional life. European Vocational Skills Week is a platform to make VET’s potential more widely known, and an opportunity to exchange information and good practices across Europe and beyond.

The next week will be held 16-20 May 2022. The specific theme is VET and the Green Transition – in line with the EU’s vision of becoming climate neutral by 2050, as outlined in the European Green Deal.
