Registrations for 2016 Spring plenaries now open!

Registrations for the plenary meetings of the AER committees open today.

This series of events will feature a joint thematic session on “Communication & actions in times of crisis”. The theme of this session is based on the current situation in Europe and the observation of the rise of citizens’ worries and at the same a quick development of far-right rhethoric. Regions often find themselves in a difficult position, having to act quickly and efficiently while their citizens also need to understand what is going on, why to adhere to the action and how to contribute positively to it.

“Communication” here refers both to listening better to citizens needs and creating a narrative which is engaging.
“Actions” is self explanatory, but a necessary part of the discussion here to highlight the fact that communication and action are indissociable and both necessary.

The joint session will mainly focus on the aspect of communication, while the workshops will tackle actions.

The 3 workshops, 1 per Committee, will be the thematic and political part generally included in the statutory meeting, they establish an obvious link between the thematic session and the work carried out by the Committees: this is where the experience and knowledge sharing is happening. Indeed the Committees are the backbone of the AER activities.

The program includes also several study visits, working group and sub-committee meetings, the statutory plenary meetings, a Summer Academy Organising Committee meeting and special time for quality networking. This series of events will be concluded with the first Equal opportunities event of the new Vice-Presidency, which will focus on the case of women in emergency situations.

For registrations and information, please visit the Spring 2016 plenaries dedicated webpage.

Minutes and presentations are available on the page of the Autumn 2015 plenary sessions in Hampshire.
