Has your region developed a Smart Specialisation Strategy? Region Jönköping in Sweden is searching for other regions in Europe—preferably with comparable challenges—to collaborate, learn and exchange experiences relating to Smart Specialisation (S3) strategies.

Jönköping County is starting work on their the smart specialisation strategy, both in the region itself, and together with other regions in the NUTS-areas in Småland and the island (south east of Sweden).

Specific interest areas for collaboration:

Jönköping are interested in improving innovation and building knowledge though networks for a Smart specialisation strategy on:

  • smart industry – manufacturing
  • forestry and the wood Industry
  • foodstuffs
  • tourism
  • e-commerce and logistics
  • creating a network to exchange ideas on S3 strategies

What Jönköping County offers as a parnter:

Situated in a strategic position at the centre of Northern Europe, the region is an attractive partner as a global leader in production technology. Jönköping offers forestry, industrial tradition, export experience and agile entrepreneurship with a high level of skills that foster innovation; creating a unique spiral of development and specialisation.

Challenges and needs for development:

Jönköping is seeking partners who are facing similar challenges for development: Notably, “low academic content in the products that are manufactured. The world is moving towards more complex and high-tech products, and to keep up we need places where different industries can meet and share ideas and experiences to create innovations and new solutions. We also want to increase investment in
a sustainable economic development, and green industries have great potential to be part
of the transition to a sustainable economy that is based on biomaterials, circularity, and
adaptation to climate change.”

If your region/organisation is interested in cooperating with Jönköping, please contact Senior Strategist, Peter Friberg at peter.a.friberg@rjl.se for more information
