Every year, AER’s member region of Upper Austria hosts the World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED) in Wels. This year’s edition, which took place from 27 February to 1 March, welcomed over 660 experts from 60 countries. The focus of the 2019 WSED was energy efficiency and renewable energy as key elements for boosting economic competitiveness and the potential of using clean energy transition to the benefit of all citizens.
Over the 3 days, there were 6 specialised conferences and an Innovation Workshop Energy and Buildings. The 6 conferences were as follows:
- European Pellet Conference
- Young Energy Researchers Conference
- European Energy Efficiency Conference
- Energy Efficiency Policy Conference
- Industrial Energy Efficiency Conference
- Smart E-Mobility Conference
The most popular conference during the WSED was the European Pellet Conference, with over 400 participants. During this conference, there were presentations over the latest technological trends, policy updates, legislation and standardisation, news from research and innovation, outlook on the developments of European and global markets, pilot projects and innovative business models. The event also allowed experts to exchange their experiences and develop new business contacts. Indeed, the promotion of networking among the experts were highly encouraged through the study visits, poster presentations and other interactive events.
The full conference review delves into further detail of each conference and the activities and topics covered.
The next edition will be taking place from 4-6 March 2020 so be sure to already mark your calendar. Additionally, for next year’s edition, they are looking for speakers and papers on energy efficiency & renewable energy sources. The deadline is 10 October 2019.
