At the occasion of the 2014 edition of the European Sustainable Energy Week, AER and the Québec General Delegation to the EU jointly organised a roundtable debate to discuss which policy should be put in place to create a flourishing green energy sector benefiting to both citizens and entrepreneurs.
Regions have a key role to play in boosting sustainable development: however what are the successful tools regions possess to bring about a sustainable future? In order to discuss how to establish a structured and inclusive dialogue between citizens, decision-makers and entrepreneurs to make green energy thrive, members appreciated the effectiveness of cutting edge policy choices when it comes to farsighted regional strategy for a green energy transition.
Besides learning from regional strategies from AER members, a number of specific issues were tackled, such as the upcoming EC Green Action Plan for SMEs and the potential for a European environmental fiscal reform. The audience could benefit from Québec’s established expertise in the field thanks to the participation of a delegation of environmental experts.
