About the Session
Building on the momentum of the inaugural session held on 4 June 2026, this second capacity-building workshop moves from awareness to action. The initial session identified a critical systemic challenge: public authorities often lack the formal strategies, tools, and training necessary to effectively counter migration disinformation. To address this gap, the second series of webinars focuses on a fundamental solution identified by participants: the power of reliable regional data as a practical tool for evidence-based policymaking and strategic communication.
This session invites participants to explore actionable frameworks through concrete regional models. We will delve into a flagship case study of Innlandsstatistikk, the comprehensive statistical platform developed by Innlandet County (Norway). It will showcase how regions can equip themselves with robust, transparent facts to detect and mitigate disinformation while strengthening the evidence base for social inclusion.
The session’s impact is further amplified through the Intercultural Regional Network’s ongoing partnership with the European Commission’s Urban Agenda Partnership for Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees. Incorporating the Commission’s insights and alignment with the Action Group on Disinformation, this event serves as a strategic venue for multi-level cooperation, connecting sub-national governments and institutional stakeholders across all tiers. We anticipate a productive, forward-thinking dialogue that enables authorities to seamlessly integrate data-informed strategies into their routine governance.
Overall aim
This session aims to move beyond the awareness raised in the first webinar by directly addressing the capacity gaps identified. Its primary objective is to equip participants with practical tools for evidence-based governance, specifically through the use of reliable regional data and statistics. Rather than presenting a single approach, the session will showcase a range of regional models—highlighting Innlandsstatistikk as a flagship case study.
By examining how statistical evidence supports the early identification and prevention of disinformation, participants will explore how empirical data feeds into integrated, multi-level institutional responses. Ultimately, the session is designed to help move participants from awareness to action, identifying concrete tools and practices that regions can adopt or adapt to strengthen their daily operations.
