What is COP?
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the United Nations’ annual global climate summit, bringing together nearly 200 countries, regional governments, businesses, and civil society organisations. It is the world’s leading forum for negotiating international climate policy, reviewing progress under the Paris Agreement, and accelerating global climate action.
Why COP31 Matters
Building on the climate finance commitments agreed at COP29 and COP30, COP31 is expected to focus on turning commitments into action. Key discussions are expected to include:
- ⚡ The “35 by 35” Electrification Goal – accelerating renewable electricity to reach 35% of final energy demand by 2035.
- 🏙️ Resilient Cities – reducing the energy intensity of the building sector by 25% by 2035.
- ♻️ Global Waste Reduction – advancing international frameworks to halve the growth of municipal waste worldwide.
This is a unique opportunity to engage with global climate leaders, build partnerships, and ensure regional perspectives are represented in international climate discussions.
