This week an AER delegation composed of members of the Summer Academy and the Youth Regional Network is participating in the Summer Seminar of the College of Cluny to identify cooperation opportunities.
AER: a history of territorial innovation
The cooperation of AER with the European College of Cluny is a continuation of AER’s longstanding support to territorial innovation. The AER Summer Academies, the YRN, the former Centurio programme or Training Academies are all examples of this history of making mutual learning happen.
Mutual learning is AER’s trademark and it works in an incremental way: the more experiences are shared, the more the practices are developed and become useful to more stakeholders. Examples abound of good practices being shared within the interregional network, then transferred to another regional level, adapted, transformed and brought back to the network to be again implemented elsewhere. The development of regional youth councils across Europe is one of these concrete outputs.
Members of the Summer Academy Organising Committee are exploring how the Cluny Summer Seminar and the AER Summer Academy could cooperate.
The college of Bruges of regional leaders
AER has been approached to become a founding member of a new European college, the very first college dedicated 100% at Master level on the European action of future or current local and regional leaders (students, civil servants or politicians). This will become the college of territorial engineering and innovation in Europe.
Located in the historic town of Cluny in AER member region Bourgogne-Franche Comté (FR), the first students will be welcomed in 2018 with priviledged access to AER members.
AER will contribute to the development of learning modules, be a bridge between regional authorities and the College both for training and work placement opportunities. Indeed, the training aims to provide participants with extensive opportunities for hands-on experience.
Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding
Today the President of the AER Summer Academy Rune Frederiksen and the Vice President of the Youth Regional Network Katalin Arany will sign a Memorandum of Understanding which has been approved by the AER Executive Board and which formalises this cooperation on capacity building.
