#ShineBright Children support centre in Antalya

On the occasion of the 2017 AER MYFER Award, ShineBright on the region of Antalya, Turkey that presented a project called GEDAM.

The initiative aims to provide support for children through free academic and artistic activities as well as specific counseling.

GEDAM targets young people between 7 and 25 living in Antalya. In the center, around 50 teachers are giving free classes in Turkish, Mathematics, Science and Technology, English and Computer and many other fields. On the artistic side, 17 different courses are available from ballet to piano and chess.

In addition, the centers offer protective and preventive actions for youth, including psychological counseling and a psycho-social support for young victimes of violence. GEDAM intends to accompany young people and improve their self-confidence, and self-expression to help them face day-to-day issues.

GEDAM provides children with psychologists, lawyers, social services specialists, family counsellors, dieticians and pediatricians.

The project reach out to those who have less opportunities and encourages active inclusion and citizenship among youths.
