The European Week of Regions and Cities 2018 is taking place 8-11 October in Brussels, and AER will be hosting a workshop on Cohesion for Enlargement: Thriving in a stronger Union.

The event will be held on 11 October from 14:30-16:00 at Square – Brussels Convention Centre.

In the context of evolving debates and negotiations on the new EU budget and future cohesion policy post-2020, and the EU’s renewed commitment to the Western Balkans, this workshop will look at the role cohesion policy plays in strengthening the enlargement process in the region. Has cohesion policy helped bring the Western Balkans closer to the EU? Does the proposed cohesion policy framework preserve its relevance as a cornerstone in the EU-Western Balkans partnership? Is the proposed reform fit for a stronger and enlarged Union? These are some of the questions to be explored in this workshop debate.
