AER President, Dr Hande Özsan Bozatli, was in Ukraine from 18-21 May. From Kiev to new AER member Kryvyi Rih, the President was delighted to see the changes in this fast evolving country which has always shown, despite the difficulties, a significant interest in the Assembly of European Regions.
Guided by Mr Oleksandr Vilkul, AER envoy to Ukraine and the country’s former Vice Prime Minister, the President was keen to deliver a message of solidarity on behalf of the European regions and at the occasion of the local festivities for the Europe Days.
This trip was also the occasion to inaugurate the new AER office in Ukraine together with its director, Mr Vyacheslav Berezhnyy and to discuss the new opportunities of cooperation with Ukranian regions in the framework of the visa liberalisation with the European Union. Mr Vilkul will further develop this topic in front of the Assembly of European Regions General Assembly on 31 May in Lower Austria.
