What?

ENGAGED is a network of European stakeholders interested in learning from each other and together support the further deployment of innovative solutions to promote active and healthy ageing.
The main activities were:
• Identifying and clustering stakeholders at European and regional level
• Carrying out workshops for mutual learning
• Drafting a roadmap for the targeted deployment of solutions in selected European regions
• Drafting a report with a set of scenarios for an evolving learning community and selecting one.

When?

This thematic network was funded through the European Union’s ICT Policy Support Programme as part of the Competitive and Innovation Framework Programme under GA n° 325172. This programme ran from 2007 to 2013.

Why?

“Active and healthy ageing is a societal challenge shared by all European countries, but also an opportunity. It is a chance for Europe to establish itself as a global leader that is capable of providing innovative solutions.” European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA)
ENGAGED community was established to shape the active and healthy ageing agenda of the EU and to deliver knowledge and guidelines on implementing innovative solutions. The aims were to:
• Build a coalition of stakeholders
• Raise awareness and disseminate information
• Promote the transferability of evidence around what works and what doesn’t
• Support regions to cooperate with a variety of stakeholders at regional level and implement innovative models and services.

What is AER’s role and how to get involved?

The AER Social Policy and Public Health Committee, and the AER e-he@lth network, are active in fields such as demographic change, active and healthy ageing, integrated care, modernising health and social systems, innovation and change management. Mutual learning workshop is organized in the context of the Assembly of European Regions’ (AER) plenary meeting. Thus, discussions on innovation, dissemination and awareness, and policy thinking were organized by AER along with other partners such as CORAL and EUREGHA. In addition, AER members provided several best practices to the website.
You can find more information on the ENGAGED Community website.
