Through a wide research project led by the University of Antwerp, hundreds of regions’ policy actions in Brussels have been studied. How regions work towards Europe and how successful they are were the two topics discussed on Friday 3 February at the Committee of the Regions. Representing the key network of regions in Europe, AER Secretary General Mathieu Mori was invited to comment on the results presented that day by the academics.
The study shows that whatever the profile of the region, large and powerful or small and weaker, the only way to be successful in interacting with the European institutions is to build large and nationally diverse coalitions. The study therefore highlights the crucial role played by associations of regions like AER.
