Tales from Europe on Eco-Innovation

This year AER has come up with a new format for the “Tales from Europe” event. Co-organised for the first time with a second entity, the English Speaking Union, we opened our doors not only to journalists and colleagues from European institutions, but also to regional representatives and the civil society. The format is new but its objective is still the same: to promote concrete projects, initiatives and stories from our regions – the “real bread and butter” of Europe.

The event presented success stories from ECREIN+ – a network all about helping regions work together to promote eco-innovation across Europe, it revealed some of the secrets behind the German innovation model and also challenged the audience to reflect upon current issues posed by the green economy model.

Speakers from Baden-Württemberg (D) and Lombardia (I) gave clear-cut examples of eco-innovation projects in an effort to better inform attendees on what innovative paths Europe is taking towards stronger sustainability. One important key takeaway was that Eco-Innovation is not anything you can buy, but something you grow and cultivate through awareness raising, environmental technology, and proper legislation.
