1 February, 2017 By Editor

The joint AER-ERRIN brokerage event “Going green in Seventeen” which was held in Brussels, Belgium on 19 January 2017, was a great success. With a focus on Horizon 2020 energy and climate change calls with a 2017 deadline, the project brokerage session drew a myriad of representatives hailing from regional delegations, universities, companies, and public authorities. In addition, the plenary session allowed attendees to gain insight on the new call and advice on how to design a successful project proposal.

This event aimed to foster the participation of our member regions in EU funded green projects, in line with our new service dedicated to assisting them with EU projects and programmes. By acting as a channel through which to facilitate the meeting and networking of different actors concerned by green projects, AER successfully gave its regions and other stakeholders the key to develop project ideas, join EU projects, and meet potential new partners to build consortia.

The event was beneficial to our participants, who were provided with insight on the Horizon 2020 Energy Efficiency Call 2017, practical support by means of tips and tricks for a successful Horizon 2020 proposal, and a greater understanding of the role of exploitation and dissemination in green Horizon 2020 projects.

Public authorities wanted: two calls from Horizon 2020 programme

1 February, 2017 By Luca Magri

The brokerage event organised by AER in collaboration with ERRIN showed once again AER commitment to keep members update on funding opportunities and projects. After the last presentations on European programmes done at the Autumn Committees’ Plenary 2016 in Izmir, AER goes further with an event dedicated to one of the main European funding programmes: Horizon 2020. The brokerage was the stage for regions to present their project ideas on energy efficiency and climate change as well as the perfect place to meet potential project partners.

Please, find in the event page all presentations and projects ideas shared during the brokerage event.

Now, we would like to share with member region some additional information on the programme Horizon which could be particularly useful for public authorities. In particular, we focus on some calls discussed during the brokerage event which envisage a clear involvement of the public sector, having deadline on  7th June 2017 at 17:00 (Brussels time).

FIRST CALL: ENGAGING AND ACTIVATING PUBLIC AUTHORITIES ON ENERGY

The call for proposals “Engaging and activating public authorities – EE-09-2016-2017” aims to support the key role of public authorities to drive the change in energy planning to find better energy efficiency solutions.

The call supports activities like developing innovative ways for energy transition. The integrate energy planning in different fields as transport and land-use is also another one. The multi-layer approach between the different levels of public authorities is also mentioned.

The second action of the call is to foster the peer to peer learning among public authorities in consortia together with Local and Regional Energy Agencies.

The project proposals should have remarkable results in energy saving or impact the promotion of renewable energy, support the preparation of new policies and strategies created or adapt to include green energy sources. Also the engagement of citizens is one of the expected results.

SECOND CALL: ENGAGING PRIVATE CONSUMERS TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY

The call “Engaging private consumers towards sustainable energy – EE-06-2016-2017” puts at the hearth of the energy system the citizen as consumer. The combination of raising energy prices and lower income puts 50 millions of European citizen in a potential situation of energy poverty.

The aims of the call are innovative. One of them introduces the concept of “prosumers”. Consumers should act proactively to set up groups to promote energy efficiency or renewable energy resources. The aims address also basic skills as understanding the energy bills and how to take the right decisions in energy matters.

Project proposals should demonstrate an understanding of different types of consumers behaviours. It should consider the different approaches needed to influence them. The activities need to address specific target groups. Speaking of targets, gender is a priority for all the activities of the call. Gender is important because it may influence the energy behaviour of the consumers.

The call recommends to involve major consumer organisations in the project proposal.

In this article there are the main information. Check the pages of each call to have a better understanding. So start as soon as possible to work on your idea. Horizon 2020 project proposals are complex and need time to prepare a valuable proposal. Please have a look at the tips&tricks presented at the brokerage event by Anna Casagrande, Horizon 2020 National Contact Point Brussels.

For any more information and support regarding this call please contact AER secretariat.

Don’t miss our brokerage event on green projects, tailored just for you

15 December, 2016 By Agnese Pantaloni

Within the effort on working on projects and funding, AER Secretariat launched the first brokerage event on energy and climate change projects in order to foster the participation of AER member regions in EU funded projects, build consortia and enlarge the cooperation and partnerships with relevant European stakeholders.

Being the access to funding opportunities through EU projects and programmes crucial for regions, AER developed a dedicated service for regions which consist in assisting them in finding project partners, disseminating project information to the whole network, taking part in projects and assisting with the project writing and development. The  brokerage event is part of the new services provided to our member regions to develop project ideas and join EU projects.

AER decided to lunch it working with one of our partner network – ERRIN – which has a strong experience on this format of events dedicated to project development, in order to join forces and make possible the meeting and networking of different actors such as regions, universities, companies, etc.

Why we chose the topics of energy and climate change for this brokerage event?

These are topics of high interest both for AER and ERRIN, having a lot of funding possibilities within EU programmes. We decided to focus on Horizon 2020 call for proposals with deadline on 2017 and, in this framework, we identified 41 calls that could fit with these topics. Based on feedbacks received by participants on the calls they are more interest in, we are going to select the top 8 calls/topic areas to focus during the brokerage event.

Sharing project ideas and doing project development on these topics is a follow up of the high interest that AER regions showed within some recent initiatives lunched by AER which have been very well welcomed: in particular the “100 solutions project campaign” focused on financing energy, waste and energy efficiency projects and AER participation at COP22 in Marrakesh. Therefore AER decided to approach also the EU funding for green projects, giving the possibility for regions and their stakeholders to present project ideas, join projects and meet potential new partners to build consortia.

To participate, please register on the ERRIN website. Select the calls you are interested in and specify if you wish to just participate in or if you are willing to lead the project.

Please specify if you are planning to give a flash presentation (5 minutes maximum) during the plenary, before the breakout sessions. Priority will be given to project leaders. In addition, please upload your project idea on the form.

The deadline for the first round of registrations is 19 December. Once we select the top-8 calls/topic areas we will open again registrations until 16 January for participants interested in these topics.

If you like to get additional information, please contact AER Secretariat.

We are looking for sponsors

We are looking for regions to sponsor the networking reception organised after the brokerage event. A unique chance to promote your regional products. Contact us if you are interested.
