At the bureau meeting in Maastricht, on 29 November 2017, members agreed on the direction of AER for the next years, summarised in a nutshell by the notion of “a Democratic, cooperative, inclusive and sustainable Europe of Regions”. This will be the overarching priority for AER’s work.
Inter-regional cooperation and best practice exchange are paramount if we are to strengthen a democratic Europe where citizens are meaningfully engaged in their common future.

As part of their efforts to deliver more effective joint political thinking and policy influencing, at the Bureau meeting in Gelderland on 22 November 2018, Bureau members agreed to move from annual towards five-year political priorities to provide a more clear direction and longer-term drive of AER operational priorities.
