SUMMARY:REGISTER NOW: EU Regions Week Workshop – Engendering Equality in Europe's Regions
DESCRIPTION:Date: 14 October 2021 \nTime: 11:30 – 13:00 CET \nVenue: Online (via Zoom) \n  \nAn Equal Europe?\nA truly democratic Europe demands an equal voice for all. Indeed\, making “significant progress” towards a gender-equal Europe by 2025 is a key objective of the European Union\, and ‘achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls’ is enshrined as goal number five of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Yet\, at the current rate of progress\, the World Economic Forum estimates that it will take 107 years to achieve equal representation of men and women. This issue has a strong regional and local dimension\, with women making up only 30% of locally elected representatives. What can be done to accelerate this process of equalisation and overcome this persistent democratic deficit? \nShare your ideas for achieving Equality!\nAs part of the 2021 European Week of Regions & Cities\, the AER is delighted to bring you ‘Engendering Equality in Europe’s Regions.’  This interactive citizens’ debate will bring together the audience\, politicians and civil society to share ideas on how regions can help bring about a truly equal Europe. \nSpeaking at our workshop will be: \n\nHelena Dalli\, European Commissioner for Equality\nCllr Andrew Gibson\, AER Vice President for Inclusion\, Diversity & Equal Opportunities\nCllr Alison Gilliland\, Lord Mayor of Dublin (IE)\, Member of the European Committee of the Regions\nRobert Biedroń\, Member of the European Parliament\, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality\n\nOur moderator will be Dr Angela-Unufe Kennedy\, CEO of the Migrant & Minority Disability Network Europe. \nDuring the debate\, AER Secretary General\, Christian Spahr will present fresh data from an opinion poll gathering the views of citizens across seven European countries. Their responses will shed new light on the barriers to entry young women face in our regions. You are invited to join our panellists for what promises to be a lively discussion on how to make our democratic systems more accessible and representative\, starting at the regional level. \nHow can I join?\nThis workshop will take place via Zoom. Registrations are open now with limited places available! \n \n

SUMMARY:Improving the attractiveness of Technical and Vocational Education & Training for women
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the webinar on Improving the attractiveness of Technical and Vocational Education and Training for women. \nThe Technical and Vocational Education and Training sector has a major role to play in providing the skills Europe will need in the future. Moreover\, countries with well-designed vocational training programmes find it easier to avoid youth unemployment\, even in times of crisis. However\, this sector has traditionally been a predominantly male environment. \nThis is why the European Parliament underlined the need to \ncontinue to address gender bias and gender-stereotypical choices by ensuring and encouraging the equal participation of women in vocational training for what are usually traditional ‘male’ professions and of men in ‘female’ professions; calls for the gender dimension to be reinforced in efforts to modernise VET systems and to make learning both at and outside work more accessible to women employees and those with family care duties\, not least in sectors where women are under-represented\, notably the digital\, STEM and green sectors\, in order to combat gender segregation in education and employment and combat gender stereotypes \nEuropean Parliament resolution of 17 December 2020 on the Council Recommendation on vocational education and training (VET) for sustainable competitiveness\, social fairness and resilience (2020/2767(RSP)) \n  \nThe event will be held on 13 July 2021 at 10:00 CET and will give regions the chance to share insights and hear about support initiatives at EU level. \nAGENDA & PRESENTATIONS: \n\n10:00-10.05: Housekeeping rules and quick presentation of the Skillnet project\, Valentina De Vico\, Communication Manager\, Skillman Team\n10:05-10:10: Opening\, Andrew Gibson\, AER Vice President for Inclusion\, Diversity & Equal Opportunities\n10:10-10:20: Combating gender stereotypes\, Alexia Fafara\, Junior Policy and Campaigns Officer\, European Women’s Lobby\, SRHR lead\n10:20-10:30: The Gender+ project\, Michael Miller\, Project Officer\, The Opportunity Centre\n10:30-10:40: Hampshire (GB) Women in Construction\, Carolyn Jay Project Manager in the Skills\, Partnerships and Strategy Team\n10:40-10:55: Discussion with all speakers and attendees\n10:55-11.00: Closing\n\nThe webinar is also available on Youtube \nThe events are part of the Skillnet webinar series AER is organising\, which provides an opportunity for mutual learning around topics identified by AER members. \n  \n  \n\n\n\nContacts\n\n j.pacevicius@aer.eu \n b.sandu@aer.eu\n\n\n\n  \nThis webinar is organised as part of the SKILLNET series of webinars on EU funding opportunities. SKILLNET is a project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission aiming to strengthen the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system’s role and capacity to design high-quality VET programmes tailored to current societal needs through enhanced transnational and cross-sectoral partnerships. \n

SUMMARY:Social Inclusion in TVET and Skill Development - Leaving No-one Behind
DESCRIPTION:TVET policies and programmes are of core importance to ensure that all people can enjoy inclusive skill development leading to both individuals’ affirmation and the creation of diversified learning environments.  As reported by Srinvas Reddy\, Chief of the ILO Skills and Employability Branch\, “inclusive skills development and lifelong learning opportunities are vital to prevent people from being left behind\, to maintain people’s employability\, and to ensure that economies and enterprises recover promptly from the crisis”.  (Guide on making TVET and skills development inclusive for all\, ILO Skills and Employability Branch\, 2020). \n  \nYet\, as a result of rapid and increasing societal changes – as the digital transformation\, climate change\, globalisation and demographic trends – in-depth transformation have been taking place in the labour market creating further constraints to inclusion and societal wellbeing. This condition has been further amplified by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the creation of the so called ‘lockdown generation’. \n  \nThe AER has been actively working on societal challenges throughout the past years. In 2018\, it adopted a Position to express the need for new solutions (societal innovation) to societal and territorial challenges while ensuring quality public services and jobs. \n  \nIn this context\, public authorities\, VET experts\, and civil society organisations have a primary role in re-defining and improving the TVET system at the local level and developing societal innovation to ensure that learning opportunities address everyone’s needs and specific conditions. \n  \nThe webinar aims to contribute to foster inclusive TVET systems and skill development by offering first hand insights from the European Commission\, as well as a space for the exchange of knowledge and practices among policymakers\, VET experts and practitioners. \nAGENDA:  \n\n10.00 – 10.05: Housekeeping rules and quick presentation of the Skillnet project\, Valentina De Vico\, Communication Manager\, Skillman Team\n10:05 – 10:15 Opening – Social Inclusion in the TVET sector and opportunities at the EU level\, Joao Santos\, Senior Expert\, European Commission\n10:15 – 10:25 Social Innovations in TVET and Inclusiveness Assessment Aurora Carrasco Minguez/Alicia Garcia-Madrid Colado\, European Network of Innovation for Inclusion (ENII)\n10:25 – 10:35 Social Innovation Practice ‘B-WISE:  Blueprint for sectoral cooperation on skills in Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs)\, Konstantina Leventi\, European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD)\n10:35 – 10:45 Social Innovation Practice ‘VETEREALITY’\, Massimo Aloe\, REATTIVA\n10:45 – 10:55 Q&A\n10:55 – 11:00 Closing Remarks\n\nThe event is part of the Skillnet webinar series AER is organising\, which provides an opportunity for mutual learning around topics identified by AER members. \nYou can find the presentations of the webinar here!  \n  \n\n  \n  \n\n\n\nContacts\n\n j.pacevicius@aer.eu \n b.sandu@aer.eu\n\n\n\n  \nThis webinar is organised as part of the SKILLNET series of webinars on EU funding opportunities. \n

SUMMARY:REGISTER NOW! - Back to Our Future - Regions leading Europe's Green Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Date: 9 June \nTime: 10:00 – 11:30 CEST \n***UPDATE *** We are delighted to announce we will be joined by Dominique Riquet\, Member of the European Parliament and Rapporteur on the Opinion of the Committee on Transport and Tourism on the Just Transition Fund. \nThe COVID-19 crisis brought the world to a standstill in 2020. City centres became ghost towns\, economic activity slumped\, and political priorities fell by the wayside as managing the pandemic became the all-consuming political focus. \nYet\, though it faded into the political background\, what did not stand still is the dangerous rate at which our planet is heating up. While the COVID-19 pandemic is a crisis of the now\, failing to get back on track to meet our 2030 targets puts our entire future in jeopardy. As we emerge from the pandemic\, it is time to get ‘Back to Our Future’ and put our climate targets back at the top of the political agenda.  \nThat is why on 9 June as part of EU Green Week\, the AER Bureau will bring together policymakers and experts to discuss the role of regions in tackling the climate crisis and delivering a green recovery. Speakers will consider the following questions: \n\nWhere will the European climate strategies take us in terms of alignments with the Paris and 2030 Agenda goals?\nHow can the COVID-19 recovery and climate action work together?\nWhat opportunities and challenges do regional authorities face in delivering a fair transition to a climate neutral economy?\nHow can we develop multi-level and multi-stakeholder partnerships that deliver a just transition to a sustainable future?\n\nThe speakers for this debate will be: \n\nVeronika Hunt Šafránková\, Head of United Nations Environment Programme Brussels Office\nElena Višnar-Malinovská\, Head of Unit for Adaptation\, Directorate-General for Climate Action\, European Commission\nAndries Gryffroy\, Member of the European Committee of the Regions and Rapporteur on the European Green Deal\nDominique Riquet\, Member of the European Parliament\, Rapporteur on the Opinion of the Committee on Transport and Tourism on the Just Transition Fund.

SUMMARY:BRIGHT IDEAS - The Role of Regions in Improving Energy Efficiency
DESCRIPTION:Eva Hallström\, Chair of the AER Working Group on Energy and Climate Change invites all AER members and friends to join an event on the role of regions in improving energy efficiency. Regions will share their experience\, challenges\, and enablers. This event is co-organised by Värmland (SE) and Viken (NO) \nEnergy Efficiency: how to achieve the transition in the industry?\nThis webinar aims to build a platform for discussions regarding the EU’s work on energy efficiency\, focusing on the green transition within the industry. It will be an opportunity to share ideas\, experiences\, and best practices. \nExperiences from the Bioeconomy Region\nVärmland and Viken are both members of the “Bioeconomy Region”\, a leading region of the forest bioeconomy. \nTo achieve climate goals while making use of the full potential of the forest bioeconomy\, the rate of development and innovation needs to be faster. This is why the Interreg project «The Bioeconomy Region» was created in 2017 by a number of actors in inner Scandinavia \nBoth regions will share how they support improved energy efficiency in fields as diverse as production\, construction or logistics. \nSynergies with the Green Deal\nThe industry will play a central role in the transition to improved energy efficiency and carbon neutrality in Värmland\, Viken\, and in Europe as a whole. this is why synergies between the European Green Deal and the EU’s Industrial Strategy are needed. \nThis webinar on energy efficiency will also be an opportunity to gather inputs and testimonies\, which will contribute to the work being developed by the AER Task Force on Climate. \n \nProgramme: \n\n\n\n13:00\nWelcome by Eva Hallström\, Chair WG on Energy and Climate change\, AER\n\n\n13:10\nRegional perspectives on Energy Efficiency \n  \nStina Höök\, Regional Councillor\, Region Värmland\, SE \nJohan Edvard Grimstad\, Regional Councillor Region Viken\, NO\n\n\n13:30\nProjekt BIS – Climate measures and energy efficiency through Regional cooperation and innovation  \n  \nSandra Svennberg\, Head of Unit\, Department of regional development\, Region Värmland\, SE \nJanne Buhaug\, Head of rural and regional business development Region Viken\, NO\n\n\n13:50\nDigitisation as method to achieve Energy Efficiency \n  \nCharlotta Kullander Hedbom\, Energy and Climate Advisor\n\n\n14:00\nPanel discussion\n\n\n14:20\nThe AER Task Force on Climate: how the findings of this webinar will be used for joint advocacy work \n  \nMagnus Berntsson\, AER President\, Chair of the AER Task Force on Climate\n\n\n14:30\nConclusion\n\n\n\n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Last chance to Register! - AER Bureau Debate: The Future of Democracy in the Hands of Regions
DESCRIPTION:Date: 12 May \nTime: 16:00 – 18:00 CEST \nRising populism\, widespread misinformation\, and a loss of trust in governments and institutions. Add a global pandemic to that list of ailments\, and it’s clear that democracy in Europe is not in the best shape.  \nBut what is the best course of treatment to restore Europe’s democratic health? The answer is a wholesale ‘lifestyle change’ for our democratic system\, starting at local level. The Conference on the Future of Europe is a unique opportunity to rebuild trust with citizens and reform our democratic architecture. Only through real dialogue with citizens all across Europe’s regions can we create a truly ‘participative’ democratic model fit for the post-pandemic world. \nLocal and regional authorities have a key part to play in making sure citizens have their say on Europe’s future. As the level of government closest to our citizens\, they are the bridge linking the ambitions of ordinary Europeans with the Institutions that govern them.  That’s why the AER Taskforce on Democracy\, led by the region of Örebro (SE) and chaired by Irén Lejegren\, are bringing together representatives from regional authorities\, civil society organisations\, along with European representatives to address the following questions: \n\nHow can democracy be strengthened at regional level?\nHow can regional authorities promote democratic governance in Europe?\nHow can youth be meaningfully involved in decision-making processes and discussions related to the future of Europe\, for instance\, the CoFoE?\nHow can we enhance participatory governance in Europe\, in order to achieve a stronger multi-actor and multi-level participatory democracy?\nWhat will be the consequences of not delivering on the outcomes and recommendations put forward by the citizens\, in particular youth\, during the Conference on the Future of Europe?\n\nOn this occasion\, regional youth representatives from AER member regions and youth advocators from the project Y-FED: Europe is what we make of it\, will be invited to join the debate and engage in a discussion with AER regional policy-makers. This will be a unique opportunity for ensuring the voices of young generations are heard at EU and regional level in order to shape altogether a future Europe that is more sustainable\, fair\, prosperous and democratic. SUMMARY:Multi-stakeholder Approaches for Innovative Societies
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to two webinars examining the ways in which multi-stakeholder approaches help build more innovative societies.\n \nTo build innovative and creative societies\, it is necessary to work both at a system level to improve innovation ecosystems and at an individual level to encourage young people from diverse backgrounds to participate in society. The events are part of the Skillnet webinar series organised by the AER\, which provides an opportunity for mutual learning around topics identified by AER members. \n\nCreating Effective Innovation Ecosystems\nAn innovation ecosystem describes the complex set of relationships among very diverse actors and entities\, which work for technology development and innovation in a territory. Amongst others\, this includes the material resources and human capital of universities\, colleges of engineering\, business schools\, business firms\, venture capitalists\, industry-university research institutes\, state or regional economic development agencies and chambers of commerce\, funding agencies and policymakers. \nConnectedness\, Competence and Talent\, and Capital are identified as issues of major importance by the European Commission’s Report on the 2020 stakeholder consultation “A Robust Innovation Ecosystem for the Future of Europe”. This webinar will look at the elements which make for an effective innovation ecosystem. In particular\, it will examine how regional ecosystems involve different levels of education\, specifically whether technical and vocational education and training stakeholders are involved or how they can be involved further. \nAgenda\nCreating Effective Innovation Ecosystems\n19 April 2021 at 10:00 CET\n\n10.00-10.05 – Housekeeping rules\, quick presentation on Skillnet\, Valentina De Vico\, Communication Manager\, Skillman Team\n10:05-10:10 – Opening remarks and introduction to the webinar\, Sandra Evans\, Project Coordinator\, Universität Tübingen\n10:10 – 10:25  The skills for innovation and how to boost them\, Arnault Morisson\, Thematic Expert Research and Innovation\, Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform Presentation here\n10:25 – 10:35 The benefits of interregional cooperation to boost innovation ecosystems\, Agneta Kardos\, Timiș County Council Presentation here\n10:35 – 10:45 The experience of Upper Austria in the energy transition\, Christiane Egger\, Deputy Manager\, Energy Agency of Upper Austria Presentation here\n10.45-10.55 – Panel discussion and Q&A session\n10.55-11.00 – Closing remarks\n\nRecording of the webinar here: https://youtu.be/fGKvGkowX7Y \n  \nTechnical Vocational Education & Training and Civic Participation\nCivic participation is a process in which people take collective action to address issues of public concern and can adopt many forms: from individual volunteering\, community engagement efforts and organisational involvement to governmental support. With regard to governments\, effectively engaging with stakeholders translates into better services\, source ideas and knowledge\, co-creation solutions and seizing new opportunities. \nTo achieve high-quality civic participation\, it is however crucial to make sure to involve all regional stakeholders. Research shows there is a large participation gap between college students and other young people. Thus\, this webinar will look at the factors that can improve the civic participation of people in technical and vocational education and training\, and how such multi-stakeholder strategies benefit regions. \nAgenda\nTechnical Vocational Education & Training and Civic Participation\n20 April 2021 at 10:00 CET\n\n10.00-10.05 – Housekeeping rules and quick presentation of the Skillnet project\, Valentina De Vico\, Communication Manager\, Skillman Team\n10.05-10.10 – Opening remarks\, Alessandra Zedda\, AER Vice President for Employment and Skills and Councillor at Sardinia Region (IT)\n10.10-10.20 – Civic competences and lifelong learning\, Andrei Frank\, Policy Officer SOLIDAR Foundation Presentation here\n10.20-10.30 – Regional experience from Nordland (NO)\, Simon Johnson\, AER Chair of the Working Group on Education and Training\, Acting Mayor of Nordland County Council Presentation here\n10.30-10.40 – Building the TVET voice through the Peer Learning Clubs\, Maria Elena Romanini\, Project Manager\, Skillman Secretariat Presentation here\n10.40-10.55 – Panel discussion and Q&A session\n10.55-11.00 – Closing remarks\n\nRecording of the webinar: https://youtu.be/gRXRvHq4Fjo \n  \n\n\n\nContacts\n\n       j.pacevicius@aer.eu \n       b.sandu@aer.eu\n\n\n\n  \nThis webinar is organised as part of the SKILLNET series of webinars on EU funding opportunities. \n

SUMMARY:2021 Innovation Show - How Smart is Your Food?
DESCRIPTION:We live in a world where thanks to technology\, everything is getting “smarter”. \nOur watches monitor our blood-pressure\, our cars can drive themselves\, and since the pandemic\, the high-rise\, multi-story workspaces that dominate our city skylines have been replaced by “virtual” meeting rooms we can carry around in our pockets. \nBut can the food that we eat get “smarter”\, too?  The answer is Yes! \nSmart…food?\nInnovation in food systems is allowing us to develop food that is more nutritious\, more resource-efficient and cheaper to produce. This has huge potential to address many of the great\, global challenges we face. Everything from fighting climate change\, improving global health to promoting gender equality can benefit from advances in food technology and improvements in various levels of the food system. \nWe all have a stake in the future of food innovation. Innovation at all stages of the food value chain is a topic mobilising everyone from scientists and farmers\, to politicians\, NGOs and the private sector. Local and regional authorities have a key role to play here; acting as an interlocutor between stakeholders on the ground\, building partnerships\, fostering collaboration and driving innovation. \nAn innovative show in an innovative format\nThat’s why on 3 March 2021\, the AER\, in partnership with Gelderland Province in the Netherlands is bringing you the 2021 Innovation Show! \nThe 2021 Innovation Show asks the question “How Smart is Your Food?”  This will be a unique\, hybrid event hosted live from Gelderland Studio bringing together policymakers\, entrepreneurs and experts to field ideas\, find synergies and innovate together. \nWhat you can expect\nThis event will be an opportunity to: \n\nShare experiences from regions on the development and impact of smart food and smart food value chains;\nHear what challenges and opportunities stakeholders see in the food innovation field;\nExamine the role of regions and what new roles are emerging;\nDiscuss the social and economic impact of food innovation\, and what this means for policymakers;\nShare perspectives the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on innovation\, especially when it comes to funding.\n\n \n  \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Enthusiasm in learning and success in times of pandemic
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to two webinars on tackling early school leaving by improving information\, support\, and mutual learning\n \nHow to encourage young people and provide them with adequate support so they remain interested in learning in a global context that is particularly challenging? These two events will provide an opportunity to share regional experiences and hear about support initiatives at the EU level. \nThe events are part of the Skillnet webinar series AER is organising\, which provides an opportunity for mutual learning around topics identified by AER members. \nGenerating enthusiasm\, informing about potential\nOne of the challenges in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is that it is often associated with negative representations such as the difficulty to follow general education or attend university. Informing about the potential of TVET and its success potential is also instrumental in boosting self-confidence in learners. \nThe first webinar\, which will take place on 27 January 2021 at 10:00 CET\, will offer the opportunity to learn and exchange about regional policies and practices aimed at making young people more aware of the opportunities related to Technical and Vocational Education and Training\, in order to: \n\navoid early school leaving because of the inadequacy of training pathways and the risks associated with the feeling of failure;\nencourage young people to see Technical and Vocational Education and Training as a pathway for success: for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training choice to be a positive choice;\nrecruit talented young people in Technical and Vocational Education and Training.\n\nVocational Training in Times of Lockdown and Pandemic\nIn the context of the pandemic\, the fundamental role of schools and teachers has been challenged. With lockdowns put in place across Europe\, vocational education and training (VET) schools had to convert physical classrooms and work-based learning spaces into digital learning environments overnight. Keeping up the attention\, motivation and good spirit of students became a major focus of teachers\, as global events increased uncertainty especially for young people. \nThe second webinar\, which will take place on 28 January at 10:00 CET\, will focus on Vocational Training in Times of Lockdown and Pandemic.\nThe event will be an opportunity to hear about the Cedefop VET toolkit for tackling early leaving created by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training CEDEFOP\, a very current source of support to policymakers\, education\, and training providers. \n\nAgenda\nNew enthusiasm for vocational training and education\nBoosting self-confidence\n 27 January 2021 10:00 CET\n  \n\n10:00 – 10:05 Welcome introduction of the topic & speakers Hrvoje Kovac\, Chair of the AER subcommittee on Youth\, Varazdin (HR)\n10:05 – 10:10 Housekeeping rules\, quick presentation on Skillnet\, Valentina De Vico\, Communication Manager Skillman Team\n10:10 – 10:20  VET & initial training and existing funding and support opportunities Kjerstin Torpmann-Hagen\, Policy Officer\, European Commission DG EMPL\n10:20 – 10:30 Experience from Catalonia\, Miquel Carrión Molina\, Deputy Director Youth Employment and Professional Qualification\, Catalonia (ES)\n10:30 – 10:40 Experience from Alba\, Gabriela Rus\, Policy officer\, Economic and rural development department\, Alba County Council (RO)\n10:40 – 10:55 Panel discussion and Q&A session\n10:55- 11:00 Closing remarks\n\n  \n \n\n\nVocational Training in Times of Lockdown and Pandemic\nPreventing early school leaving\n28 January 2021 10:00 CET\n  \n\n10:00 – 10:05 Welcome introduction of the topic & speakers Birgit Sandu\, EU Project Manager\, Assembly of European Regions\n10:05 – 10:10 Skillman introduction and Skillnet project presentation Valentina De Vico\, Communication Manager\, Skillman Team\n10:10 – 10:30 Presentation of Cedefop VET toolkit for tackling early leaving Irene Psifidou\, Expert\, Department for Learning and Employability CEDEFOP\n10:30 – 10:40 Experience from Catalonia Borja Castellet\, Project Manager El Llindar\n10:40 – 10:55 Panel discussion and Q&A session\n10:55- 11:00 Closing remarks\n\n\n  \nHow to join the webinars\nClick on the above “register here” buttons (one registration per event) \nor go to the Skillnet events page and chose: \n\nE 418 – Mutual learning on early school leaving: Generating new enthusiasm for vocational training and boosting self-confidence 27/01/2021 10:00 CET\nE 911 – Vocational Training in Times of Lockdown and Pandemic: preventing early school leaving 28/01/2021 10:00 CET\n\n  \n  \n\n\n\nWatch back\nNew enthusiasm for vocational training and education – Boosting self-confidence \nVocational Training in Times of Lockdown and Pandemic – Preventing early school leaving \n\n\n\nHandouts\nVET & initial training and existing funding and support opportunities\nExperience from Catalonia\nExperience from Alba\nPresentation of Cedefop VET toolkit for tackling early leaving\nExperience from El Llindar\, new chances school\, Catalonia\n\n\nContacts\n\nj.pacevicius@aer.eu \nb.sandu@aer.eu\n\n\n\nThis webinar is organised as part of the SKILLNET series of webinars on EU funding opportunities. \n  \n  \n \n \n

SUMMARY:New mobility services: Anticipating Skills and Job Roles
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the webinar “New mobility services: Anticipating skills and job roles” that aims to bridge the gap between the skills and job roles needed for the new mobility services sector and the workforce. \nNew mobility services are offering solutions to today’s growing challenges in terms of congestion\, lack of space\, growing population\, air quality\, noise\, social inclusion\, health\, economic development\, and the creation of jobs. These solutions require skilled and adaptable individuals who are able to drive and support change. However\, there is a growing skills shortage in the mobility services sector which could seriously delay the development of the services and hurt customers’ expectations. Thus it is required to look into new skills for the future workforce but also opportunities realized through reskilling the workforce.  \nAbout the webinar\nThe event will be held within the sixth edition of the Skillman International Forum focused on ‘Redefining the Future of Learning in the Advanced Manufacturing Sector’. Additionally\, it is part of the Skillnet series of 18 webinars designed to bring together experts in different fields linked to vocational education and training (VET) with the purpose of establishing relevant groups of collaboration and partnerships for future EU project proposals. \nThe webinar will highlight regional examples on the integration of new mobility services and the development of skills and job roles needed in the sector. In this context\, it aims to: \n\nHighlight the relevance of EU funding opportunities and European cooperation in bridging the skills’ gap in the new mobility services sector\nShare good practices about how regions and local companies can foster the relevant skills in the population\nBoost a network of cross-sectoral experts interested in the new mobility services that can be applied for future EU funding opportunities.\n\nHow to join the webinar?\nOnly one registration is given for all the events within the Skillman International Forum (SIF). Hence\, to join the event\, you have to register to Skillman International Forum and participants will be re-directed from the plenary (main room) to the various sessions in the course the event through break-out rooms. \nIf you cannot attend the whole SIF\, you may access the event at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the webinar “Circular Economy: Opportunities and Needs in the Labour Market” (starting time 15:30) so that you can be re-directed to the session. \n  \n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n  \n\nThis webinar is organised in the context of SKILLNET\, an EU-funded project which aims to strengthen the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system’s role and capacity to design high-quality VET programmes tailored to current societal needs through enhanced transnational and cross-sectoral partnerships.

SUMMARY:Circular Economy: Opportunities and Needs in the Labour Market
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the webinar ‘Circular Economy: Opportunities and Needs in the Labour Market‘ aimed to share information about how Vocational and Education Training (VET) programmes can support the transition towards a circular economy and exploits its potential for employment and social inclusion.   \nThe circular economy is among the core policy priorities of regional\, national\, and international policy-makers being a major tool to counter negative environmental trends while offering new opportunities for employment and social inclusion. The core pillars of the circular economy – reuse\, repair\, remanufactured\, and recycling – imply a more labour intensive process than the linear economy where resources are wasted or lost. This results in an unparalleled potential for the promotion of employment\, with the expected creation of approximately 700 000 new jobs linked to the circular economy (the so-called circular jobs) by 2030 in the EU (Cambridge Econometrics\, Trinomics and ICF\, 2018).   \nAt the same time\, the transition is a broad process involving an overarching redefinition of the economy as a whole\, as well as requiring the readiness of all economic and sectors in order to be fully realised. To this extent\, this year\, the European Union has adopted a new Circular Economy Action Plan for the achievement of a “cleaner and more competitive Europe in co-creation with economic actors\, consumers\, citizens\, and civil society organisations”. As suggested in the document\, the labour market plays a fundamental role in this process in that if able to anticipate and prepare for the transition\, it can accelerate and maximise the potential of a circular economy. Hence\, both the realisation of a circular economy and the effective uptake of its employment opportunities strongly depend on the readiness of the labour market. \nIt will offer regions and stakeholders engaged with the circular economy the opportunity to learn and exchange about how regions\, companies\, and VET organisations can support the transition towards a circular economy and exploit its employment potential by fostering the needed skills in the workforce.    \nIn this context\, the webinar aims to:  \n\nProvide information about what are the skills needed in a circular economy with particular regard to the advanced manufacturing sector.\nOffer the possibility to learn from\, and exchange with\, experts about how VET can support the circular economy transition by developing new curricula tailored to skill and upskill the ‘circular workforce‘.\nCreate a space for debate and network for experts in the field in order to establish relevant partnerships that can be applied within future EU funding opportunities.\n\nHow to join the webinar?\nOnly one registration is given for all the events within the Skillman International Forum (SIF). \n \n\n\n \n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n \n\nThis webinar is organised in the context of SKILLNET\, an EU-funded project which aims to strengthen the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system’s role and capacity to design high-quality VET programmes tailored to current societal needs through enhanced transnational and cross-sectoral partnerships.

SUMMARY:Lifelong learning: Upskilling and reskilling of 50+
DESCRIPTION:  \nWe are pleased to invite you to the webinar “Lifelong learning: upskilling and reskilling of 50+” that aims to bridge the gap between the need for reskilling and upskilling and funding opportunities and programmes offered by the EU. \n  \nThis webinar will highlight regional examples on upskilling and re-skilling and provide insights into the funding mechanisms used. \nIn the context of rapidly changing labour markets\, the upskilling and re-skilling of adults has become a priority. Technological changes and digitalisation require new skills\, while many regions in Europe are faced with both an ageing population and labour and skills shortages. People over 50 oftentimes are not the target group approached for the majority of employers and there is a consistent association between ageing and reduced participation in learning. Effective social inclusion and employment policies\, therefore\, require strong and regularly updated skill foundations. \nDuring this webinar\, Ms Elena Romanini\,  Senior Project Manager\, Skillman\, will explain different programmes and funds on lifelong learning offered by the European Union.  Mr Michael Heaney\, Chief Executive Officer\, Údarás na Gaeltachta will share possibilities in which programmes and projects on re-skilling and upskilling are financed and implemented from the regional perspective. Ms Ana Gale\, Director of Uciliste Studium – Institution for Adult Education will emphasize the importance of the development of the skills in accordance with the industry needs.  She will share the implementation example on cross-border cooperation in the field of upskilling and reskilling adults. \nThe webinar will cover: \n\n10.00 – 10.10 Introduction to the Skillman network and to the webinar (Valentina De Vico\, Skillman Communication Manager)\n10.10 – 10.20 EU fund opportunities for lifelong learning (Elena Romanini\, Skillman Senior Project Manager)\n10.20 – 10.30 Empowering adults to reskill and upskill (Michael Heaney\, Chief Executive Officer\, Údarás na Gaeltachta)\n10.30 – 10.40 Cross-border cooperation in the field of lifelong learning (Ana Gale\, Director\, Uciliste Studium – Institution for Adult Education)\n10.40 – 11.05 Panel discussion and Q&A session\n11.05 – 11.15 Closing remarks\n\n  \nThis webinar is organised in the context of SKILLNET\, an EU-funded project which aims to strengthen the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system’s role and capacity to design high-quality VET programmes tailored to current societal needs through enhanced transnational and cross-sectoral partnerships. \n\n\n\n REWATCH IT NOW! \n\n\n\n
