The world is facing an unprecedented magnitude of people on the move", says Federica Mogherini, High representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, acknowledging that regions and local authorities are at the heart of being affected by this movement be it by welcoming and managing the migration and refugee flow or by engaging with their own societies. "It is a global challenge", says Mogherini, "and it is not going to leave us soon."
With a membership reaching from Scandinavia to Turkey, the AER is well placed to engage in the dialogue and cooperation on the issue of migration and refugee crisis management.
